Audience recording from a very rare charity concert. Mark Knopfler, Guy Fletcher, Glenn Worf and Richard Bennett performed an intimate and "acoustic" concert (at least no drummer) for a sold out crowd at Boothbay Harbor's Opera House. All proceeds from this sell-out concert are to be be used to benefit The Opera House Challenge, a fundraising effort with a goal of $500,000 and an approaching deadline of September 30th. Apart from the fact that this was a unique charity concert, it also features various songs that Mark never performed live before. A really special recording, complete concert, pretty good sound quality. Available on two CD-R's.

Audience recording of the third showcase that Mark Knopfler did to promote his new album "Kill to get Crimson". Tickets for this showcase could not be bought, only be won with the Radio 2 competitions on the radio and the internet. Thousands of fans participated on these competitions, but only 300 lucky people actually won and were invited to be present at this special promotional show. Great to see that most of the Dutch die hard fans actually managed to get a seat inside the Melkweg theatre! Sound quality of this recording is very good. Available on one CD-R.

This is a live recording of the fourth showcase that Mark Knopfler did to promote his new album "Kill to get Crimson". After Berlin, Madrid and Amsterdam, Mark Knopfler performed an intimate showcase in London before a select audience of around 80 people. Songs were interspersed with short Q & A sessions with BBC Radio 2 DJ Simon Mayo. The showcase was recorded for BBC Radio 2 and broadcasted on the 19th of November on the program "The Music Club", presented by Simon Mayo. The showcase also featured the song "Our Shangri-La" (played before "So far away") which was recorded but unfortunately not broadcasted. But... this soundboard recording amazingly found it's way outside the studio and is now added to this CD as a bonus track! Very nice to see "Wild Theme" and "So far away" (in a version I personally like a lot more than the version from the previous tour!) in the setlist. Very nice showcase with a relaxed Mark Knopfler telling about the the person Rüdiger, the album and other things. Funny thing is that Simon likes the song "Eastbound train" very much and Mark played a small part of the intro for him! Soundboard recording with good sound quality. Available on one CD-R.

Additional comments Second night of the tour. The sound is taken from a video camera and sounds really good. Originally, the sound on Marbletown was recorded only on the left channel, which is corrected to two channels on this CD. The last few notes of Marbletown are missing. Very nice show with a rare version of Devil baby (played instead of Postcards from Paraguay), which is totally different from the studio version. I attended this show myself and took some impression shots with the camera in my telephone, see pictures below.

Additional comments Very good sounding recording, recorded from the front row in the arena field, almost in front of Mark Knopfler. The good news: great sound pick up from drums and Mark's main amps/speakers for his electric guitars! The bad news: since the first row doesn't really get to hear the main PA, there was a separate monitor for most sound and there was an intermittent fault whereby this cut-out for 5 to 10 seconds every 20 - 30 seconds (same thing happened on the first show of this tour during the first few songs). During the first two songs, there was a photographer who was walking around the front and would stop in front of this speaker. And during the encores, the crowd came forward and also blocked sound from the speaker. Of course, both have effect on the sound and the vocals are really on the background from Brothers in arms on. But apart from that, a really good sounding recording of the complete show. Each of the six shows at the Royal Albert Hall were in aid of a charity and Mark Knopfler made a donation to that specific charity. The charity of this show was for Kidney Research UK.
