There was much for Jimi to celebrate as the Experience traveled to Baltimore via limousine. Electric Lady Studios, which Hendrix had been using to review the best examples of his work at other recordings studios throughout the previous year, had finally become operational. A test recording made days earlier, which featured Eddie Kramer on the piano in Studio A, signaled the start of Jimi's most productive studio work since sessions for Electric Ladyland in 1968.
At the Civic Center, an exuberant "Pass It On" opened the performance and set the tone for the evening. "Pass It On" was a precursor of "Straight Ahead" which Jimi would record just four days later at Electric Lady. A powerful "Machine Gun", complete with a superb solo from Jimi confirmed this concert as one of the best of the 1970 US tour.
